Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month

How much do you know about spinal cord injuries?  Did you know that September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month?

Spinal cord injuries are most commonly caused by motor vehicle crashes, but are also found as a result of violence, recreational activities and falls.  Currently, men are more affected by spinal cord injuries, and the average age of injury is 42.  Strikingly, the lifetime cost of a spinal cord injury with even ‘minor’ motor damage can exceed $1,000,000.  That number increases to over $4,000,000 for an individual in their mid-20’s with severe damage.

WFBMC has a comprehensive team dedicated to treating patients with spinal cord injuries.  Visit their webpage for more information HERE.

Want to know more about spinal cord injuries?  The National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center has the 2016 information available – from which the above facts were taken.  Visit their information HERE.
